Arrival of His Grace Edward Joseph Adams
The Silay City Government led by Mayor Jose Montelibano and Vice Mayor Mark Golez spearheads the welcome party for the arrival of His Grace Edward Joseph Adams, the Papal Nuncio to the Philippines on Feb. 18.
Montelibano and Golez will be joined in at the Silay airport by Bishop Vicente Navarra and the Friends of Tourism from Silay City.
The Papal Nuncio will be extended the official Silay Medallion of Hospitality and leis from the different sectors welcoming him.
Ver Pacete, president of the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental said that Mayor Jose Montelibano will deliver his welcome message, the Papal Nuncio will give his arrival speech, and the world-renowned Kabataang Silay Rondalla will play “Martsa Sang Silayon”, a welcome tribute.
Felizardo Torralba, airport manager; Councilor Pop-i Locsin, and the PNP Aviation Group will provide the security measures and escorts from the airport to Bacolod City in cooperation with Silay PNP.
The Papal Nuncio will be in Bacolod to bless the Pope John Paul II Tower at the reclamation area, 4pm.
Fr. Felix Pasquin of San Sebastian Parish said that the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental (ATONO) and the Provincial Tourism Office in coordination with the frontline tourism sectors will add PJP II Tower as one of the tourist attractions in Negros Occidental.
Pasquin added that he is appealing wholeheartedly to the Negrenses that if they have articles or any object related to the late Pope John Paul II during his historic visit to Bacolod, they can donate them to the management of PJP II Tower.
