BFCCII and Rotary Club Turns Over 3-Classroom Building to DMLMHS

Bacolod Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc and Rotary Club turned over to Dona Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School the three- classroom building last Wednesday, February 24, 2010.

Dr. Kenneth Collins, past president of Rotary Club International and his wife together with Mr. Edgar Sy, Governor of Rotary Club Bacolod, District 3850, cut the ceremonial ribbon and unveiled the marker accompanied by Hon Jose L. Montelibano, Mayor of Silay City followed by the blessing of the classrooms by Rev. Rayman Asoy.

BFFCCII usually donates two classrooms under their program "Operation Barrio Schools" however Mr. Wilfredo Hermosura , principal of the school felt the need for one more classroom for the use of the Science Department so he presented the idea to Mr Edgar Sy who immediately responded by donating personally another classroom , and added a 3-M building for the school library and concrete study tables and stools in front of the science building.

The Special Program in the Arts (Music Major) lead the singing of the Lords Prayer and Lupang Hinirang, followed by the words of welcome from the principal, Mr. Wilfredo O Hermosura.

Miss Aileen Villanueva , an alumna of this institution, delivered a very nostalgic message, reiterating the time when their classroom was only built out of bamboo and sawali and the post are coco lumber, so she promised that someday she will do something to donate a concrete building for her Alma mater.

The symbolic turn over of the replica of the school building was witnessed by Rotary Club International delegates to the Conference in Bacolod City and Rotarians from Silay City headed by their president, Miss Aileen Villanueva and the Department Heads, faculty and students of the recipient school.

The ceremony ended with the signing of the Deed of Donation between the donors BFFCCII represented by Atty. Benjamin Ortega and Rotary Gov. Edgar Sy and the donee which is DepEd Silay represented by the Administrator Mr. Jowey Alimon and witnessed by Mayor Jose L.Montelibano and Mr. Wilfredo O. Hermosura and a sumptuous merienda cena for the visitors.
