The Department of Education issued an Order #19 s. 2008, “Implemenation of  No Collection Policy in All Public Elementary and Secondary Schools”, dated March 19, 2008.

DepEd Silay City will conduct the 2008 School Maintenance Week or Brigada Eskwela on June 2- 6, 2008. This is an annual DepEd activity which aims mainly to prepare the schools for the opening of classes.

Stakeholders such as the School Officials, PTCA, Local Government Officials, NGOs, GO’s and private persons join hands to improve the surroundings and school premises.

La Purisima Concepcion Elementary School located at Brgy Eustaquio Lopez Silay City hosted the Medical Dental Mission launched by the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. last March 9, 2008. There are 410 sugar farm workers particularly the school children of the aforementioned school benefited from the said mission.

Silay City sponsored the “Libreng Tuli” last May 6, 2008 at the old hospital, now the new Silay City Health Office .

Beneficiaries of this venture are residents of Silay from the different barangays of the city.

Hon. Jose Oti Montelibano, City Mayor has graced this activity. The Mayor himself had encouraged the beneficiaries not to be afraid to undergo such minor operation.

By virtue of Executive Order 685, the Department of Education (DepEd) will expand its pre-school program to include pre-school children enrolled in day care centers.

“While management of day care centers still remains with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), DepEd is ready to take on this overwhelming task,” DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus said.
